Application to Day School 25/26 is now open
Day School Provides:
-A year-long programme designed to support individual progression and professional development.
-A small cohort of 14 artists and practitioners with a broad range of disciplines and interests.
-Access to a shared studio at St Anne’s House, Bristol. The space will be organised and set up collaboratively by the participants (whole studio space c.39m squared)
-Monthly education days (Saturday) with invited guest artists / educators / curators (including talks, workshops, crits, 121s, discussions and other group projects).
-Past guests have included Steph Huang, Exodus Crooks, Michael Dean, Harold Offeh, Heather Peak, Bryony Gillard, and Conway & Young.
-121s with Day School coordinator Natasha MacVoy
-Subscription to Art Monthly for the year
-Opportunity to work collaboratively and to contribute to the programme
-Annual group project or exhibition (group organised/peer-led)
-Day School participants are eligible to apply for New Contemporaries
-Professional development opportunities
-Regular studio practice development activities (peer-led)
-Social occasions
-Shared kitchen facilities

Who is Day School for?
Day School might have particular relevance for the following:
-Artists / Makers / Designers / Performers / Socially Engaged Practitioners / Illustrators / Film makers / Writers and those engaged in an arts practice to communicate ideas
-Those who have been practicing for some time in South West / Bristol, and are looking for fresh ideas or opportunities for community and collaboration
-Those looking to move to, or are new to, the South West / Bristol wanting to make connections in the city and be part of a peer network
-Those who feel excluded from mainstream or postgraduate education for any reason, such as rising costs or a programme that conflicts with other responsibilities
-Recent graduates looking to continue developing their practice with access to a lighter touch education programme
-Those returning to their practice
When is it?
Day School 2025/26 runs August 2025 – July 2026
Provisional Education Days for 2025/26 will be:
16 Aug, 13 Sept, 11 Oct, 15 Nov, 13 Dec, 17 Jan, 14 Feb, 14 Mar, 11 Apr, 16 May, 20 June (Away Day location tbc), 11 July
Cost
£115 per month (payable on the first of each month Aug 2025 – July 2026 inc)
Day School is very happy to support any participants looking to apply to outside funding to cover fees
How to apply for Day School 2025/26
Please send an email (subject: ‘Day School Application 2025/2026’) to dayschoolbristol(at)gmail(dot)com with the following:
-A short expression of interest telling us your motivations for participating in Day School (max 350 words or link to an audio or video recording max 4 mins).
-An attached PDF portfolio (please ensure files are a max 3MB) or a link to your website or instagram
-A statement about your practice or your interests with a bio and/or cv
-If you would like to apply for any of the bursaries (outlined below), please indicate this on your application. If eligible, you may apply for more than one bursary.
– Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an informal online conversation to discuss the programme, any bursary requests and their practice (approx 20 mins)

Jerram Foundation – 2025/26 Bursary details:
-This full bursary is available to anyone not in full time education.
Bath Spa University – 2025/26 Bursary details:
-A bursary for a 2025 Bath Spa Graduate in (BA) Fine Art, Creative Arts Practice, Photography, Product and Furniture Design, Textiles, Fashion, or Interiors.
*Bath Spa University applicants need to apply directly through the University MyCareer platform*
UWE – 2025/26 Bursary (TBC) details:
– The UWE bursary is currently under review. The deadline for UWE undergraduates to be announced if the bursary is secured. 2025 Graduates are welcome to apply to the Open Call regardless.
This bursary would support a UWE undergraduate final year from the School of Arts (Art, Design, Drama & Acting, Fashion, Filmmaking, Animation & Photography, English, History & Writing, Journalism & Media graduating in summer 2024) who has a socially engaged art practice, and a strong commitment to collaboration and community
Shared studio information
Day School is situated within the St Anne’s House creative community hub organised by Bricks.
The shared studio sits amongst a variety of artist studios, social enterprises, and community organisations. Day School participants are able to share in the wider life of the building, including the annual Open Studios.
St Anne’s House is close to Bristol Temple Meads train station (making Day School accessible to the wider South West area).
Accessibility
Day School is happy to discuss any accessibility requirements to ensure the programme is suitable and supportive to each individual’s needs. St Anne’s House is accessible via ramps external to the building, and an internal lift, with accessible toilets on the ground floor.
