Day School is a year-long alternative arts education programme (est. 2021), offering artists a shared studio space alongside monthly education days with guest artists, support and advice for work and careers, and other professional development opportunities, community projects and social occasions.
Day School is committed to the idea of alternative education as a meaningful response to the current climate of UK arts education provision, and the opportunity to contribute to maintaining a thriving artistic community in the amazing city of Bristol.
The group itself, and our invited guest artists/professionals reflect the many different artistic practices represented in the UK. Day School is an inclusive and welcoming environment, and the artists we work with are selected with these values in mind.
What former participants have had to say about the school:
“An inspiring, encouraging and supportive environment that is inclusive of everyone. Each session is always completely different to the last, bringing new approaches to an art practice. It has been invaluable to me.”
“It was the best thing I have ever done, gave me so much confidence, developed my practice in such an interesting way and made some really great mates”
“Day School came at a time when I was really considering dropping out of the art world, it gave me the push I needed to consider myself an artist and keep going”
“Going to Day School brought back the fun of doing art, it reminded me of why I started making art in the first place. Being in such a supportive and playful environment makes you fall back in love with making. I’ve met some incredible people through Day School and made some friends for life.”
